You're not allowed to say this on TV
I'm pretty sure anyways.

~Self-interveiw

Q: Say something that most people would find shocking?
A: Um.. I ate pizza a little while ago, and I have pizza farts.. and I kinda think they smell tasty..

Q: What do you look for most in a girl?
A:I look most for independance, and alot of spunk... energy, ya know? mostly just a girl who wouldnt read somthing like this to try to figure out how to woo me.

Q: Blonde, brunnette or redhead?
A: Brunnette or black haired.. easy.

Q: Favorite drink?
A: Good coffee.. with um.. 'shots' of stuff.

Q: Bedtime is?
A: Whenever I get done with everything... 4? maybe 5?

Q: Whats one thing you really hate?
A: A stream of failed atempts to understand me, or find logic in what I do, by those around me. If someone is genuinely interested in learning how to solve the rubix cube they're just going to have to sit their ass down and do it, theres no quick way.

Q: Whats one of your favorite musicians?
A: I really enjoy anything from a lady-singer named Esthero, she's really got a diva voice.. if anyone talks about britney spears and diva in the same sentence, then consider esthero first :P

Q: Would you consider some of your blog posts half-assed or irrelevant to others?
A: Yes, All of them in fact.

Q: Playing trumpet, what has been one of your biggest inspirations?
A: Probably seeing how advanced I am for my age, and how well I can play if I put my mind to it.. I also really enjoy good jazz like yoko kanno and the seatbelts, and the seven saxophones.

Q: What are you thinking about as a long term career option?
A: Writing, making music, the good stuff I enjoy.. but you'll have to get back to me on how I'll be able to do what I want and still make enough money to support myself.

Q: What do you think is the ultimate romantic gesture?
A: I dont know, some people say roses, some people say investing your time.. I think thats all crap.. and its all relative to the person.

Q: What are your beliefs on war?
A: I think that we need to clean up what we've started in Iraq and Afganistan.. but its definately not going to be pretty. I dont like to see war, but its definately nessicary when the rubber meets the road and democracy dies. I really hope we square away any conflicts in the middle-east without busting a full blown christianity-vs-islam holywar open, that'll be the end of it. And shame on anyone who joined the army half-heartedly.. treason is still a capitol offense. I dont give a flying crap if little-mister-so-and-so wouldn't have gone to college without army tuition money.. its his own problem, and if he's willing to accept the money, then he should accept the consequences that he's now bought and sold, property of the US government, and his life is going to be the mortar and his bones are going to be the brick, on bushes 'road to peace'.

Q: Thats alot of heavy-handed bullshit, How can you say that?
A: Its really simple: Everyone has to accept the consequences of their actions, solider boy to his duties and me to unpopularity due to whatever my contrary opinion is, either way its my opinion and it makes sense to me.

Q: In closing, why DID you cut your hair?
A: I dont know, I thought everyone hated it, I figured maybe I'd be able to get a job with short-hair and maybe people would think I was somehow cleanercut... but we both know I'm not ;)

Its over!

Steam Online: A breif overveiw

Ok, as breifly as possible, this is your nugget of content for the week.. it only really applies to those who play half-life online.. here goes.

Product Overveiw:
Well, if you've ever played half-life online, then you've probably used Sierra's World-opponant-network or WON, that has become VERY crowded and pretty mucked up lately.

So with the release of the latest version of valve's flagship multiplayer, Counter-strike, They also instituted a new system of networks and servers.

Generally this is a good thing: less lag, less hackers, less everything bad, more everything good. But lately its been an issue of contest over what features should or shouldn't have been changed: everyone who's played counter-strike for more than 4 years will know what I'm talking about.. Steam online is an attempt to make an old game on an outdated engine run like new.

This isnt going to happen, no matter how hard they try.. even if steam does deliever a mass of new features and fresh gameplay, its still the same counter-strike I was playing a few years ago.. and it probably WONT be the same game I'll be playing forever, dispite valve's best efforts.

Gameplay Overveiw:
As I said, alot of features where added, in most games nothing was changed, but the main change is of course, the NETWORKING... it went from poodle to pitbull in that area, WON online cant even put out half of the performance Steam online has already proven itself capable of, with the entire system being used for constant updates for EVERY person off of a fresh install.

Video Overveiw:
Asthetically, steam ain't much to look at.. the BIG video feature is that you can run it windowed and with compatabillity for the latest OpenGL and DirectX drivers, you can play half-life like god intended, sportsmanlike.

The real selling point for me is the windowed option, I'm really tickled by it.. seeing as I'd always alt-tab out anyways, they're just adding in something I've already been doing... but they've made it sooo simple and enjoyable.

Audio Overveiw:
Audio hasnt really gotten a tune-up, although its easier to change your audio settings in-game, and they've made the game less wimpy and vulnerable to audio/video failures from menu pop-ups and alt-tab'ing in and out.

Score:
Out of 5, Steam online scores a solid 4. There isnt much that could've been changed, but its incompatabillity with a few half-life mods is very disappointing for an upgrade of this size.

Features galore:

Steam online features:

Buddylist; you can see your freinds in or out of game, and send text messages, even play chess if you want.

Automatic Updating: Steam can patch itself as you go to join a game in seconds, and since Valve's content servers are dedicated to patching only, you're guaranteed the top-speed without having to move a finger.

Clean running: Did I mention how fast the networking is? Well, the game CPU usage is ever lower, it requires less than minimal CPU usage to idle steam online or even idle a game while you do something else.

"User freindly": It patches itself, it installs its own game files, it does EVERYTHING for you that normally you'd have to do manually or in some dos-made bat. file, the ONLY downside to this self-contained perfection is that the FULL steam install runs a whopping 723mgb on top of your preexisting half-life system files, which brought my grand total up to 8gb of data in three separete directories.

One of the most important 'user freindly' features was the new console, they added an autocomplete function so you dont have to be an expert to type in system commands. Console use used to be some kind of voodoo magic that only shamen and hackers were allowed to practice, now even your momma can figure out what the sv_airaccelleration is by default.

Tis' all. I hope you enjoyed every second of it.

As most of you know, Current music has become a permanate fixture on my site, and ryan's as well.

Its that time of year where I go back and reflect on my posts... namely all of the music I've posted as 'current', hence the phrase "current music"..

Anywhoo.. I just spent an hour going through a YEARS worth of music.. and I'm here to tell you that not only am I going to bed, but I dont have a list for you.

I'll post it tomarrow or something. Here's last years~

I AM making a compilation of all of the 'current music' I still have on my harddrive.. it came out to about 116 songs, now to narrow down the top 80 minutes of music out of all of that... it should be fun.

Honestly
We're not always happy.

I was just thinking now, about how people react whenever I give them a response other than "I'm doing good".. or "I'm doing great"..

When I'm not feeling good, but I want to keep up my facade.. I'll say "I'm great, just a little tired".. which is the truth.

But the simple act of asking how someone's doing has gone from human communication to another formallity that we use to fill blank space with, you guessed it.. blank conversation.

For example:
-- Hi!
-- Hello.
-- Whats up?
-- Not much, you?
-- Not much here either
-- Thats cool
-- How've you been?
-- Good, you?
-- I'm good
-- Thats good to hear
-- Always is.
~

After that, it tapers off into the usual "I've gotta go now" or "How's your mother doing" crap that nobody really thinks much about either.

Does anyone else feel this way? we're all talking and not really speaking anything. I know when I walk up to someone that 90% of the time they're "good" and "not much" is up.

So, surprise the world- I know I have, last several times someone asked me how I was doing, I gave them the most honest response; one time at starbucks there was a girl there, she asked how I was doing and what my order was... and I said "ahh. I'm doing really bad", because it was waaay early in the morning and I felt like dying or hibernating.. but she looked at me like I just fed her dog rat poison.. or shot her little brother.

All-in-all she was a nice person, but the general shock I get whenever I say anything other than "I'm peachy keen, life is roses and puppies all day and all night" people tend to start freaking out..

Maybe its that they've been too busy to consider how THEY'RE doing, and me saying I had a bad day without being a jerk about somehow reflects what they were feeling or thinking, and maybe they wanted to just tell someone.

If you're always saying "good", then it wont mean anything when you REALLY are good.

So be honest, How are you doing?

And to close~ a lemming.

Your wings are BROKEN and tattered.

You are an angelic spirit who has fallen from grace for one reason or another - possibly, you made one tragic mistake that cost you everything, or maybe you were blamed for a crime you didn't commit. In any case, you are faithless and joyless. You find no happiness, love, or acceptance in your love or in yourself. Most days are a burden and you wonder when the hurting will end. Sweet, beautiful and sorrowful, you paint a tragic and touching picture. You are the one that few understand. Those that do know you are likely to love you deeply and wish that they could do something to ease your pain. You are constantly living in memories of better times and a better world. You are hard on yourself and self-critical or self-loathing. Feeling rejected and unloved, you are sensitive, caring, deep, and despite your tainted nature, your soul is breathtakingly beautiful.

Everybody's out to get me
But I feel alright.

I'm trudging on, as usual. And with that usual feeling that I could somehow be more gleeful about life.

I know I could, but its too much effort to expend in the longrun: last time I was irrationally exuberant, I tried to commit suicide a few different ways.

So what I'm saying is, in the long-run, forcing yourself to be charitable, personable or hospitible will mess you up if it doesnt come naturally.

Happy chinese new year!

Anyways, I got an article in the mail today, probably the only piece of wanted mail I've ever gotten in my life, aside from replacement nerf parts from hasbro. I had it tucked under my keyboard like a little treasure -,- lest the calamity that is my desk swallow it up.. you can see what I mean.

I just lost those freshly taken pictures of yun gee's card, and my horrendous desk on my harddrive... so give me a few minutes to find them... I'm so pathetic.

*a minute later*

Shit, it was in the directory I was just staring at. I need sleep. Chai tea is helping though~

*added ten minutes later*

My computer is playing tricks on me.. this is intolerable.

And I still have to write a page letter to jesus on why I'm going to stay abstinant. and I'm getting up in 6hours and counting down, depending on whenever I go to bed.

Real freinds

So tonight I decided to go through the 200 something screennames on my buddylist, after deleting about 20 names I realized how meaningless most of the people were to me..

How I had wasted so much time trying to impress these dozens upon dozens, and yet they never stop for a moment to speak back or give back..

So I started deleting.. old names.. bad names.. people who were even online at the time... "if they want to be on my list, they might as well message me" I thought...

20.... 30.... 40.. all gone... freinds from a long time ago, a few I hadnt even talked to yet... 50... 70... 90... some I had spent so much time talking to.. some meant something, some didnt mean anything..

poof... I just kept tapping the delete key as I read screenname after screenname... and then after the smoke cleared I had chopped my list down to a quarter of what it was.. and out of those, 2 were online and I didnt even want to talk to them.

The point is: spend your time not trying to make "quality time", but spend your time on quality freinds, and build quality relationships... quanity of time builds quality of relationship, doesnt matter who tells you otherwise; it doesnt matter how lavish you make the setting, quality time doesnt exist and trying to get it will only make your freindships empty and meaningless.

Respect to anyone who is still on my list, and if you're reading now you're probably one of them.

Things I like

I'm making a list of the things I like, because theres a bolstering amount of things I do not.

From the top.

I like finding out what different terms that have been carried over to english mean, ie Coup de grace, Penchant and Da capo.
I like to be surprised by good things, like finding 5$ in my wallet when I'm broke, getting an unexpected invitation to a small party or getting some chocolate.
I like to win, to win stuff, and find new ways to win in a game.
I like to feel strong, like doing pushups, biking all over the place and then coming home and relaxing.

I like sweet and savory foods, like good coffee, lasanga or any dish with garlic.
I like cool girls; fiesty ones, tall ones, short ones, hyper ones and mature ones.. as long as they arent desperately needy.
I like it when people understand they're not the only one with problems, ie "ask not what your friends can do for you, ask what you can do for your friends"(opposite josh and ryan)

I like a handful of my friends, josh, ryan, deborah, dane and mason at times.
I like music, violent grungy dirty in the mud type stuff, jazz, classical anything technical.. dont deny me my 3/4 time.
I like broken beats, anything thats jumpy but still base.
I like simplicity within chaos, I love trainwreck jazz, progressive techno and anything with a beat that changes more often than 10 seconds.

I like it when people tell me good things, about how I'm doing, what I've written, or how I act.
I like it when people complement my taste, and tell me how they like the same things.
I like to talk with other thinkers, who have thier own take on life that I havent thought of.
I like the possibillity of a soul-mate.. however unlikely.

I like to think about the future, especialliy if my thoughts dont include all of the substantial consequences and obligations.
I like to dream good dreams, and wake up refreshed.
I like to have a reason to get up in the morning..
I like to write, poetry, journalism, crap, anything, lyrics even..

I'd like to learn how to sing, play trumpet, and write tons of music and lyrics..
I'd like to sit down with everyone that intrigues me and share a cup of coffee and some thoughts on the world.
I'd like to be understood by older people, the concept of not only recieving information from elders, but to give some perspective back to them, would be awesome.
I'd like to be successful at something I enjoy; becoming a paintball airsmithy, a jazz trumpeter and blues singer, a famous writer.. any one of those would make me really happy.

That was more for me than for you.

Mutual Disrespect

Here's a concept:

If you don't like something... for instance, my music, my tastes or my religion, then just keep it to yourself.

I dont mind comparing notes on something, but when its an I'm-right-you're wrong situation, burn it, hang it, and otherwise murder, destroy and demolish the stupid and inncessant redundancy that seems to be what modern day conversation has become.

I'm so tired of everyone putting walls around thier opinions and beliefs and not even accepting some fresh thought process.

For God's sake, my church's sixty-something year old pastor is probably more receptive than most of the people I run into.

If you don't like something, just stop your stupid, foolish, and overbearing opinion and consider its faults and weaknesses.

For instance: I'm listening to linkin park, to most music elitists, this is a deadly sin. And amazingly enough, a band who has the same technical and lyrical merit 40 years ago is somehow magically enhanced by its old fashioned way of being. *COUGH* ROLLING STONES *COUGH*

We as humans have been around for 3000 some-odd years, there is NOTHING new about getting screwed over, the form has changed for all things, but the function is still the same.

Cars replaced horses and we think we're so advanced.. but then why do we measure a car's power in horse-power??

This is another rant thats going off on the ridiculousness of society.. but I'll try and stay on topic.

Mutual respect or disrespect in some cases, is the ONLY civil way to hash out a debate, and even if that means the person who's so displeased with someone else's opinion just shutting up and not bothering to write a page on how bad a band is.

Life isnt about squabbling between working and sleeping follow promptly by death.
Everyone's wasting time and then they wonder how they got were they are now.
Everyone's just killing themselves' slowly and then asking at what point they changed.. Prozac isnt the solution, neither is viagra, or a sports-car, or a vacation, or retirement.. the solution is christ. I'm sorry to say, but he's the only way to live.

Everything started in christ, and eveything finds its purpose in him Colossians 1:16

Consider this: next time you go to change someone else, try changing yourself, either to enjoy something for its difference from what you're used to, or to just cope with the fact that someone else likes it.

Its not that hard, we humans call it mutual respect.

The Sean Connection
The last 24 hours.... GO!

8:00pm Last night, I found myself in the middle of ryan's family night. Joy.

9:00pm We played contract, and that is quite possibly the most retarded card game possible.

12:00am Me and ryan got to air out our problems to each other, and that was nice.. I just sat there talking and playing playstation... I made him a dragon sword on legend of mana that can do about 100 damage, with other magical effects, and then I made him a full suit of armor(not "armor", thats just a cop-out ;] ) that added up to about 45 strike, thrust, magical and blunt defense.. it was nice to talk with him too...

1:00am He said he doesnt snore at home, like he does when he sleeps over at mein house, this is true.. BUT.. he does breath obnoxiously loud when he's sleeping... its like someone's taking a blacksmithy's billows to my ears... (I'll stop with the ironsmith references now)

1:00pm And then today.. I went ice-skating with jeremy, katelyn(?), jen, ryan, justin, wes and many more...

2:40pm Ice skating is hardly a sport.. if competition paintball isnt a sport, then ice skating isnt either.. I mean just because some fool started sliding around on ice, and then found out a BETTER way to slide around on ice 200 years ago, doesnt make it a sport.

4:30pm Which brings me to my next topic: why are there seemingly no conditioners for oily hair? I mean, people just add-add-add stuff into thier hair- treated shampoo, conditioner for dry hair, hair grease, hair gel.. I mean, for god's sake, whats the result you're trying to get out of it? because I wake up in the morning with greasy, gelitonis oily hair..

4:31pm So does that make me the epitome of hair perfection? of course not.. it gets me a "your hair is dirty" ...

4:32pm Hey look! Your gel is made to imitate the shining, high-lighted and yes, oily hair that I have, and it adds around 43 chemicals into hair to get what I have biologically..

4:33pm Did it ever occur to everyone that maybe just MAYBE we all have the hair we're intended to have?

4:34pm I mean, I may not speak for everyone, but josh's hair looks fine.. nobody gives a rats poo.. but thats just because he doesnt have to add processed cow hooves and parafin wax to make his hair look like it does. And it'd be REALLY bad if he DID in fact add those things..

4:36pm My other list of people that have good hair naturally... lets see... Jovanni, Me(I think so anyways), Jen, LauraJ, Don hallman(my band director), Laura hughs(she may have some stuff, but thats justified because she's over the hill) and a hand-ful of others...

4:35pm I heard a comment today that a few guys that I was with could've been twins. No, no they couldn't have.. its just the cloned, generic gelled hair, that is being overplayed, overdone and is giving me a minor stress related stomach ulcer.

4:36pm And in other late-breaking news, I've lost my mojo at dance-dance revolution.. it makes me sad to even see a DDR machine now, because the 6th graders that play it have more funk in thier grubby little fingers than I have in the whole of my hulking-dance machine of a body. I need to get another disc for my playstation, because the old DDR I had got stepped on... f.u.b.a.r.

5:48pm In closing, I'd just like to relect on all of the money I've accrued in lost, stolen or damaged paintball gear... it probably adds up to around 100$... but I'm not going to cry about it.. I'm either going to find a job working in the "real world", or just work for my mom cleaning our stove, painting our house and other arguous tasks like that.

I know I gyped you with only 21 hours, but I still gave you THAT MUCH at least.

Have a good extended weekend!!

Words women use

"Fine", This is the word women use at the end of any argument that they feel they are right about but need to shut you up. NEVER use fine to describe how a woman looks. This will cause you to have one of those arguments.

"Five minutes", This is half an hour. It is equivalent to the five minutes that your football game is going to last before you take out the trash, so its an even trade.

"Nothing", This means something and you should be on your toes. Nothing is usually used to describe the feeling a woman has of wanting to turn you inside out, upside down, and backwards. "Nothing usually signifies an argument that will last Five Minutes and end with the word Fine.

"Go ahead"(with raised eyebrows), This is a dare. One that will result in a woman getting upset over Nothing and will end with the word Fine.

"Go ahead"(normal eyebrows), This means I give up or do what you want because I dont care. You will get a raised eyebrow Go Ahead in just a few minutes, followed by Nothing and Fine and she will talk to you in about Five Minutes when she cools off.

"Loud sigh", This is not actually a word, but is still often a verbal statement very misunderstood by men. A Loud Sigh means she thinks you are an idiot at that moment and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you over Nothing.

"Soft sigh", Again, not a word, but a verbal statement. Soft Sighs are one of the few things that some men actually understand. She is content. Your best bet is to not move or breathe and she will stay content.

"Thanks", A woman is thanking you. Do not faint, just say youre welcome.

"Oh", This word followed by any statement is trouble. Example; "Oh, let me get that". Or, "Oh, I talked to so and so about what you were doing last night." If she says "Oh" before a statement, RUN, do not walk, to the nearest exit. She will tell you that she is "Fine" when she is done tossing your clothes out the window, but do not expect her to talk to you for at least 2 days.

"Oh"(as the lead to a sentence), Usually signifies that you are caught in a lie. Do not try to lie more to get out of it, or you will get a raised eyebrows "Go ahead" followed by acts so unspeakable that we can't bring ourselves to write about them.

"Thanks alot" This is much different than Thanks. A woman will say, Thanks alot when she is really ticked off at you. It signifies that you have hurt her in some callous way, and will be followed by the Loud Sigh. Be careful not to ask what is wrong after the Loud Sigh, as she will only tell you Nothing.

"Thats okay", This is one of the most dangerous statements that a woman can say to a man. Thats Okay means that she wants to think long and hard before paying you retributions for whatever it is that you have done. Thats Okay is often used with the word Fine and used in conjunction with a raised eyebrow Go Ahead. At some point in the near future when she has plotted and planned, you are going to be in some mighty big trouble.

"Please do", This is not a statement, it is an offer. A woman is giving you the chance to come up with whatever excuse or reason you have for doing whatever it is that you have done. You have a fair chance to tell the truth, so be careful and you shouldnt get a Thats Okay.

"Can you", Usually really means "You will", so don't wait "Five minutes" or she'll ask you to "Please do" whatever you were waiting around to do.

I hope that clears anything up.

Pepsi is the devil's cup of tea

I drank some vanilla pepsi last week, it tasted like dirt and I'm speaking very literally when I say that.

Have you ever tasted dirt?!

Next topic, I'm going paintballing this saturday with about 10 other guys.. its only 10$ to get in... but um.. paint costs 50$... nice irony there..

Nate -- leader of my multimedia ministry and "immortal", our paintball team in-the-works -- let me borrow a motorized hopper and a barrel... these things are childs toys compared to the stuff he uses.. but its still dearly needed for my gun, my sweet sweet little gun.

He suggested I change the two 9-volt batteries in it. In fact, I took the liberty of not only changing the batteries, but also to wipe off the hopper inside and out, and to replace the spring on the door. After that I washed, squeegeed, and swabbed the barrel. But it was too late to test these two goodies. Mark my words: tomarrow is firing-range day in the godoy backyard.

Giving something back cleaner than you got it is usually a good policy.. who knows, he might see my token effort and let me borrow some other goodies in the future ;)

What else, mexicans are more likey to steal, my middle name is samuel and I'm *still* homeschooled... I think that covers everthing.

~Added
I'm also having some interesting developments coming soon with my writings, www.poetry.com has me in the semi-finals of a poetry contest, while I imagine its nothing THAT hard, its still interesting.

The other thing is, Teen Talent. I dont know what its all about, I'm pretty new to it, but its some kind of christian contest.. I obviously entered into the poetry division. Judging by the over-drawn directions on TO WRITE A POEM I'm guessing that the competition is going to be slim, just like me.

On the matter of over-analyzing poetry, I'm going to quote the western wind by John Frederick Nims

This is the equation stated: "Human experience begins when the senses give us IMAGES of ourself or of the world outside. These images arouse EMOTIONS, which (with thier images) we express in WORDS, which are physically produced and have SOUND, which comes to our ear riding the air on waves of RHYTHM. The whole process, from the beginning, is fostered and overseen by an organizing MIND, acting with the common sense of our everyday life, even when dealing with the uncommon sense of dreams or visions."

Thats also the process of a poem becoming a poem. Spontaneity is key.

Anyways, I'm going to try to coordinate my sleeping schedule, because I have to wake up at 5:15am on saturday to be able to take a shower and get ready in time for stevo to pick me up. Which is why I'm going to sleep at an early 11:45pm *GASP*

Letter to the editor

If you're running out of readables, I've got the thing for you. Read what the New york post had to say about the Grand theft auto series.

And read what penny-arcade had to say about that.

Dont get me wrong: I loath the grand theft auto series, but more-so I loath bad media, and bad journalism.
