A few of my favorite things

I've been looking at a high-end gaming laptop, sofar alienware has done nothing but disappoint.. whether its stories from disatisfied customers who were shipped broken products, or the mere comparison between other laptops which can do prety much the same thing at 2,000$ less.

Sofar the only thing thats caught my attention(other than the prospect of having to have one custom built locally) is ASUS's laptop line-up, which are pretty damn nice... except the fact that they use the radeon series instead of my beloved NvidiaATI series... hopefully they'll use the geforce when the new 6800 series comes out.. otherwise I might look elsewhere.

Pretty much every game out, other than almighty half-life2, favor the geforce chipset.. so who am I to argue?

But alas, a new laptop requires bad-ass new headphones.. of course... and who better to look to than Sennheiser audio... -drool-

my olde headset was from Labtec: the now discontinued axis 002... I'm wearing a pair of them right, now.. and they're still good..

not as good as the sennheiser pc145's that I'm looking at though...

Why all of this new technology? you might ask.. well.. I give you one word: Stalker.

..did you know I have hate rings dedicated to me? sort of amusing.. I joined one of them a few weeks ago.. no real content though :/ I'd like to see some burning effigies or something at least, ya' know? people are seriously behind on their hate-to-effort ratios..

Other than the usual poo, I've just been thinking alot lately about the past, not just the recent past but as far back as I can remember... and I'm always wishing I wasn't looking towards the future.. although now the future holds alot of promise for me, the uncertainty and lack of fun that I've had in the past just kind of.. dull the feeling of maturity and competence.

I wish I had a reason to journal.. I get a few dozen hits per day, but most of them are google searches for songs or something, and all of the other ones just don't comment.

Aside from sullen reflection I've been delving into this whole college-job-school-cell phone-photography-major-career-life thing... or at least I'd like to pretend I have. Again, Future = uncertain, Uncertain = Uncomfortable, Present = Comfortable..

The real kicker is I'm too busy thinking about what I could've done right in the past and what I'll try to do better in the future to really be bothered with the present, where all of my little decisions are to be made. but that's just life, isn't it?

Thoughts on love
Finally, a semi-serious blurb of my thoughts, instead of the same bizarre crap.

First off, you can't define love or put it in a box, while it may be possible to discern the various depths, levels and types, the word "love" cannot contain or convey its various meanings.

I would paste all of the different greek words for love and then pick them apart and write an essay on it, but I suck at essay-writing.. so damn.

Sometimes people ask me to define love for them, as I see it.. which is impossible.. if you understand anything about love its that you can't truly understand it.. you may be able to understand a sillouhette of its nature, and the different capacities you may feel it in.. but you cant solidly understand it as easily as emotions like anger or sadness..

there are just so many different ways you can feel good about a person.

And love isnt limited to feeling, love is a kind of understanding you carry with you.. if someone is precious to you it clearly changes your actions more than just a temporary emotion. Theres action behind love.

Love doesnt sit by idly as an object of its focus is hurt, nor does it plan any sort of thing in advance that might be for its interest but against that of its focus.

I wish I had a better language to convey the way I feel about everything.. I wish I understood this language of ours so I could better convey everything.. I wish that people would be able to hear even if I could speak powerful words.

Sometimes I'd just like to die, and have all of my thoughts painted for me, and all of my wishes and dreams and desires shown to everyone... then they might understand a bit more of things... I wish that my head would crack open and all of my mental images would stream out and then everyone who saw them would understand what I understand, even if its only a bit more for them...

I'd like my life to be autonomous, so then I could kick back and feel good about something going right.. but it isnt..

so I have to take my pictures, and convey my thoughts in words and images... thats how things will have to be.

too bad life isnt as easy as my explosion plan...

Do you REALLY dive for food?

Yes, some of us really dive for food. If you keep an open mind about this, food
diving can end up making a huge difference in your life. Many of us get to the
point where we just don't want to deal with any more nonfood "stuff".
Then, we start thinking about diving for expendable items

The first day I dived for food, I had just been IN the store buying marked
down 1/2 gallons of orange juice for $0.50. While I was doing the rest
of my shopping, someone came with a cart and loaded up all the
orange juice into a shopping cart.

So, I hung around to see what happened to it. They wheeled the cart out
and threw scores of gallons and 1/2 gallons of orange juice away...that were
still 2 days from their due date. They were pasteurized. They were still cold.
It was winter, so it was cool. I went to the dumpster and grabbed as many
as I could carry. This experience was life changing for me.

Where would you draw the line? Would you not buy the marked down OJ?
Would you take it out of the guy's cart if he were a few feet from the dumpster and
asked you if you wanted it for free? Would you take it out of the dumpster?

We food divers tap into the sad fact that we're throwing away 96 BILLION
pounds of perfectly good food into land fills each year in this country.
By EPA estimates, we're spending $4.8 BILLION a year disposing of that
perfectly good food.

kathy mentioned it a few weeks back... and after seeing the throw-out habits of starbucks I think dumpster diving would actually pretty productive..

I mean think about it-- starbucks throws away all of their pastries every night, *all* of them, its just standard proceedure.. thats a half a case of perfectly good scones, cookies and muffins that get dumped into a bag (hopefully) and then thrown into the dumpster.

You're shit out of luck if they throw the vittles directly into a can before it takes a trip to the dumpster.. otherwise you have yourself one sack of pastries sold usually at 1.50-2$ each, and with 10-20 pastries in a bag you can understand why this is a worth-while venture.

but dont tell anyone.. otherwise starbucks might start locking their dumpsters ¬_¬

I mean there was this whole livejournal craze.. then xanga then like.. deadjournal, blogger, friendster, myspace... what does it matter anymore? blogger's fine for me, as long as everyone knows my URL and I write a bit everyone wins..

the fact that everyone knows by now myland.blogspot.com is sean's blog is a powerful thing, I mean.. if I just joined myspace or something none of you would be able to comment- not that you already do- without signing up for myspace.. so its kinda silly.

I prefer this whole tied down, simplistic one page all content, some archive, no bs layout. simple.

so, in conclusion, yes.. I joined myspace, but my account is very inactive.. its almost as inactive as my hotornot.com account, which comes a close second to my hotmail account.
